Your portal for all Smart Life App information

Building a smart home doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated, nor does it require dozens of different apps for every light bulb or device. By using the Smart Life App (powered by the Tuya ecosystem), you can connect thousands of devices from hundreds of brands into one central platform.

Follow this step-by-step guide to get started with your smart home setup.

Step 1: Download the Smart Life App & Create Your Account

  1. Download the Smart Life App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

  2. Create your account and log in.

  3. Set up Home Management under settings: enter your location so your smart home can trigger automations based on local weather, time, or sunset. (Read full guide here)

Step 2: Start with Level 1 – Simple „Plug & Play“ Automations

Instead of trying to automate your entire house at once, start small:

  1. Smart Plugs: Connect „dumb“ appliances (like a fan or coffee machine) to a smart plug to turn them on/off remotely.

  2. Smart Lighting Setup:

    • Replace regular bulbs in high-use areas (e.g., living room, hallway, or garden lights) with Smart Life-compatible bulbs or plug-in lamps.

    • Open the Automation tab in the Smart Life app.

    • Set up a time/sunset schedule to automatically turn your lights on when it gets dark outside.

Step 3: Upgrade to Level 2 – Motion & Sensor Automations

Once you are comfortable with basic schedules, combine two smart devices to eliminate daily repetitive tasks:

  1. Choose a Frequent Area: Pick a location you visit regularly where manually toggling lights is annoying (e.g., hallway, basement, bathroom, or storage room).

  2. Add a Sensor & Bulb: Pair a Smart Life Motion Sensor or Door Contact Sensor with a smart bulb in that room.

  3. Create the Automation:

    • Trigger: „When Motion is Detected“ (or „When Door Opens“).

    • Action: „Turn on Smart Bulb“.

    • Now your lights turn on and off hands-free as you move around your home!

Step 4: Organize and Connect

To keep your smart home running smoothly as you expand:

  • Rename Your Devices Clearly: Use natural names like „Living Room Lamp“ or „Kitchen Plug“ instead of default product codes.

  • Link Voice Assistants: Connect your Smart Life account to Alexa or Google Home with two taps for convenient voice commands, while letting Smart Life run your background automations.

  • Leverage Matter & Local Control: Ensure new devices support Matter for faster, local execution that keeps working even if your internet goes offline.
